Re: [World] Screen Burn?

Paul,
I have noticed screen burn in my area, (central NC), on older french panes that have older metal screens. It has happened on older "triple track storms"   It appears to me to look like a dark colored haze simular to hard water stains, but over an equal area on the pane.  It wont come off with scraping, but it will reduce it a little bit.  Normal cleaning procedures will not remove it, but requires chemicals that have been suggested  like some oven cleaners, or HDS-100.

Can someone explain ag ain, in detail, what exactly screen burn is. I am looking for a way to effectively convey to customers what it is and why it takes longer to clean than standard window cleaning. I am running into it more and more lately on true divided window panes and it is very time consuming trying to remove it. I was wondering if others charge accordingly for the labor involved in removing it.

Thank you.
